DeJaynes, Donald Dale
Donald Dale "DJ" "Handsome" DeJaynes, age 69, of 600 S. Main St., Abingdon, died at 12:20 pm Monday, October 10, 2011 at the Marigold Health Care Center in Galesburg.

He was born on February 27, 1942 in Abingdon, the son of Harvey and Eva (Quinn) DeJaynes. He married Barbara Woollums in 1965. He later married Carolyn K. Rawlings Johnson on January 10, 1986. She survives.

Donnie is also survived by one son, Donald K. DeJaynes of Abingdon; one daughter, Stacey (and Eric) Leath of Galesburg; four stepsons, Darrell Johnson of Sumner, Jeff (and Judy) Johnson of Oquawka, Mark (and Denise) Johnson of Rushville and Robert Johnson of Abingdon; one stepdaughter, Kathy McElrea of Abingdon; fifteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Russell "Hank" DeJaynes of Galesburg and Steve (and Stacey) DeJaynes of Germantown Hills; two sisters, Beverly (and Fred) Colwell of Abingdon and Teresa (and Richard) White of Knoxville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his infant twin brother and infant twin sisters, and one adult brother.

He attended Abingdon schools and had lived in Abingdon most of his life. He was a Navy veteran. He worked at Briggs manufacturing for 34 years retiring in 2000. He was a die-hard Cubs baseball fan. His hobbies included bowling, fishing, hunting and he enjoyed spending time with his family.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, October 13, 2011 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel. Mrs. Eleanor Landon will officiate. Burial will follow in the Abingdon Cemetery with military rites by Harry E. Wiles American Legion Post #381. Visitation will be from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Wednesday evening at the chapel.
