Rollie was born July 23, 1923 in Herman, Illinois, the 2nd son of Homer and Lena (Thurman) Foster. He had 2 brothers and 2 sisters; all growing up in the Maquon community. Rollie graduated from Maquon High School in 1942, and was a member of the 1942 Maquon High School Basketball team, well known as "The Overhalls Boys." This team is famous for its prenominal winning streak of 31 games, capturing county, district and regional titles and finally losing in sectionals against East Peoria in a double overtime by 2 points. The team averaged 5 ft 8 in height and went to games dressed in bib-overalls. This served to fake out some schools who were unaware of the athletic ability and pure playing power they possessed.

In 1943, Rollie enlisted in the US Army Infantry. He served 4 years during WW II, in Iceland, England , France and Italy. He was decorated with the Purple Heart, and Bronze Medallion, and was part of the Battle of the Bulge and D-Day Normandy.

Rollie married A. Joan Burkhalter 1947 in Oleathe, Kansas. He worked for several factories in Galesburg and eventually worked in trucking for ADM Trucking Co.

After several years he moved to California, and married Adela M. McDonald. Together they ran a successful Dude Ranch in San Bernardino, California. The 45-horse ranch included cowboy style cookouts and beautiful horseback rides thru the San Bernardino Mountains to Big Bear Lake. They shared many years together and finally retiring back to Maquon, Il.
Rollie was always known for his quick thinking wit and love of his family. He always talked fondly of his horses, his family and the Maquon Community. He will be missed by many.
Survivors include his daughters, Mary (Gerald) Maxwell of Las Vegas, Nevada, Connie Clague, Galesburg, Denise (Rondell) Chenoweth, Port Byron, Il, Ruth (Greg) Bryan, Oklahoma, Marcia (Terry) Stephenson, Chehalis, Washington and Vickie (Tommy) Pena of San Bernardino, California. His Brother Dale Gene Foster, Galesburg, Il. Thirteen grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren.
