Windish, Maxine J.
Maxine J. Windish, age 82, formerly of Wataga, Ill. died Friday, October 14, 2011 in Rosewood Care Center, Moline, Ill.

Maxine was born September 23, 1929 in Abingdon, Ill., the daughter of Harley and Margaret Button Howard. She married Arthur Dixon and later married Robert Hillyer. After Roberts death she married Howard W. Windish on November 26, 1988 in Knoxville, Ill. He preceded her in death on August 15, 2005.

She is survived by one son, Robert (and Lois) Dixon of Moline, Ill; 12 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husbands; her parents; a son, Kenneth Dixon; a daughter, Marilyn Robinson; a brother, Gene Howard and two sisters, Betty Bushnell and Dorothy Dixon.

Maxine lived a number of years in Wataga before moving to East Moline to be nearer to her son, Robert. She worked many years for the Outboard Marine Corporation in Galesburg.
Maxine loved people and never met a stranger. Her sense of humor and love of life endeared her to everyone she met. Maxine also loved to play games on the computer and enjoyed playing bingo and dominos.

Graveside services will be 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at the Wataga Cemetery, Wataga, Ill. Rev. James Ecklund will officiate. Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donors choice.

The family would like to thank all of the caregivers at Rosewood Care Center in Moline for the loving care they provided to Maxine in the last months of her life.
