Bice, Dorothy Darlene Craig
Dorothy Darline Craig Bice, age 94, of RR Abingdon, died at 3:25 pm Monday, October 17, 2011 at the Woodridge Supportive Living Residence of Galesburg, where she had received assisted living the past four months.

She was born on August 7, 1917 in Victoria, the daughter of Upton James and Emma Almeda (Johnson) Craig. She married William W. "Bill" Bice on August 25, 1942 in San Diego, Calif. He preceded her in death on October 14, 1994.

Surviving is one son, Roger Bice and his companion Diane Shugart of RR Abingdon; two grandchildren, Donavan Bice of St. Augustine and Katrina Smith of Oneida; three great-grandchildren, Shailee Sampson and Emma Smith, both of Oneida and Chandler Bice of St. Augustine.

She graduated from Victoria High School and had lived in the Victoria area for several years. She also graduated from Knox College and the former Brown's Business College. She had worked as a bookkeeper at the Victoria Elevator. She was also a homemaker and farm wife. She moved to Galesburg in 1980 and had lived with her son the past four years prior to living at Woodridge of Galesburg. She was a former member of the Victoria United Methodist Church and attended the Bethel Baptist Church in Galesburg. She most recently attended the Berwick Baptist Church. She was a member of the OSF Saint Mary Medical Center Auxiliary Board and volunteered in many areas at the medical center for the past 30 years.

She was an organist and pianist and had played and sang at many area weddings and funerals.

Cremation will be accorded. Memorial service will be 10:00 am Friday, October 21, 2011 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Rev. Tom Smith and Mrs. Eleanor Landon will officiate. Burial of her ashes will be at 2:00 pm Friday in the Galva Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Thursday at the chapel.
