Sprout, Ronald E.
Ronald E. Sprout. 73, of Monmouth, IL, died Tuesday morning, October 18, 2011 at his home.

He was born August 18, 1938 in Monmouth, the son of Orrin and Leona (Peterson) Sprout. Ron was raised and educated around the Muddy Corners area of Warren County and graduated from Monmouth High School in 1956. He later attended and played baseball at Reedley Jr. College in California.

Ron married Joan Miller in Monmouth on March 15, 1959 and she survives.

Ron was an Insurance Agent for State Farm Insurance before retiring after 31 years in 2000. He enjoyed hunting, baseball, softball, golf and spending time with his grandchildren. Ron was an avid fast pitch softball player and pitcher for many years. Along with his numerous softball achievements Ron still holds the ISC World Tournament Record for strikeouts, 20, for a 7-inning game, which he set Aug. 24, 1968.

Survivors include his wife; children, Tari (Scott) Evans of Bloomington, IL, Jeff (Julie) Sprout of Chillicothe, IL. and Marla (Chris) Wood of Monmouth; grandchildren, Quinton Evans, Derek Sprout, Caresa Evans, Mike Wood and Noah Wood.

His parents preceded him in death,

Cremation has been accorded. Memorial services will be 11:00 A.M. Sat. October 22, 2011 at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Monmouth. No visitation is planned. Burial in Monmouth Cemetery will take place at a later date. A memorial fund has been established to be designated later.
