|James M. "Jimmy" Turk, 65 of Jacksonville, Ill. and formerly of Godfrey, Ill. and Galesburg, Ill., died at 12:03 p.m. Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville.
He was born August 15, 1946 in Galesburg, the son of Chester J and Margaret M Turk.
He is survived by one sister, Pamela A (Carl) Shinall of Jacksonville; one niece, Shelley Beard of Lincoln, Ill.; one nephew, Timothy (Toni) Shinall of Franklin, Ill.; three great nephews, Robbie Beard and Logan and Cameron Shinall; and one great niece, Samantha Beard. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Jimmy loved Jesus, his family and friends, fire trucks, trains, music and the Cubs. He was a joy to all who knew him and never met a stranger.
He worked at the Knox County Council for the Developmentally Disabled in Galesburg, Elm City Center in Jacksonville, and Beverly Farm in Godfrey. He attended Special Touch Illinois Get Away in Carlinville, Ill.
Graveside services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 24, 2011 at East Linwood Cemetery in Galesburg. Memorials may be made to Elm City Center, Beverly Farm Foundation or Special Touch of Illinois. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
