Lafferty, David N.
David N. Lafferty, 73, of Alexis died at 4:20 P.M. Thursday, October 27, 2011 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.

He was born May 26, 1938 in Warren Co. IL, the son of George B. & Hazel Mildred (Nelson) Lafferty. He was raised and educated in Alexis, graduating from Alexis High School in 1956.

David served with the United State Marine Corps from 1957-1963.

David married Virginia Lee Munson on July 21, 1961.

David was a driver for Munson Trucking for several years before working for John Deere. He later owned and operated Lafferty Pluming & Heating, later joining his brothers in Lafferty Bros. Construction before retiring.

He was a volunteer with the Alexis Fire Dept. for several years. He had been active in Jaycees and enjoyed woodworking. David also liked working in his garden and liked watching John Wayne movies.

Survivors include his 2 daughters, Cyndi (Allan) Adams of New Windsor, IL and Kelly Lafferty of Galva; 3 grandchildren; 1 great grandson brothers, George (Carol) Lafferty, Ted (Barbara) Lafferty and Dick (Margie) Lafferty all of Alexis; sister, Marjorie Quilty of Galesburg; sister in law, Karen Lafferty of Galesburg; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Elizabeth Lafferty and Barbara Simonson; brothers, Bill Lafferty and Larry Lafferty.

Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Monday, October 31, 2011 at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Alexis. Burial with Military Honors will be in Alexis Cemetery. Friends may call after 12:00 noon on Sunday, Oct. 30, 2001at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Alexis where his family will be present from 2:00-4:00 P.M. A memorial fund has been established to be designated later.
