Lindsay, James W.
Mr. James W. Lindsay, 86, of 1279 Bridge Ave., Galesburg, IL, died at 8:45 AM Sunday, October 30, 2011 at his home.

He was born on May 1, 1925 in Mt. Carmel, Ill. to John W. and Ethel Peterson Lindsay. He married Ernesta (Esther) Guerrieri on May 5, 1945 in Blue Island, Ill.

James is survived by two sons, Edwin J. Lindsay and Gene A. Lindsay; a daughter, Mary Baughman; three grandchildren, Edwin J. (Aaron) Lindsay, Lindsay (William) Mitchell and Blake Jones; three great-grandchildren, Alexia Lynn and Lily Marie Mitchell, Caitlin Rei Lindsay, all of Galesburg.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and five brothers, Earl, Edwin J., Edward A., Elmo and Norman Dale.

He served in the US Army from 1943 to 1946. He was discharged as a Staff Sergeant.

James was a state policeman for eight years. He also worked for Burlington Truck Lines, Butler Manufacturing and Iowa Malleable.

He was a 1942 graduate of Mt. Carmel High School. He attended Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Galesburg.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, November 5, 2011 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Msgr. Ernest Pizziamiglio officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Friday, November 4, 2011 at the Chapel. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Alzheimers Foundation.
