|Melvin H. Gibson, age 74, of Rural Knoxville, Illinois died at 9:35 P.M. on Thursday, October 11, 2012 in rural Knoxville, Illinois.
He was born on March 30, 1938 in Rural Knoxville, Illinois the son of Roy H. and Mae Harshbarger Gibson. He attended and graduated from Knoxville High School, Knoxville, Illinois. He married Evelyn J. Rosenberg on March 5, 1960 in Galesburg, Illinois. She survives of rural Knoxville, Illinois.
Also surviving is a son: Joseph L. "Joe" Gibson of Rural Knoxville, Illinois; two grandchildren: Amanda Jo and Grant H. Gibson of Rural Knoxville, Illinois; one brother: Gene (Dee) Gibson of Dahinda, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Roy & Art.
He farmed in rural Knoxville, Illinois and while farming worked for Gates Rubber Company of Galesburg, Illinois for 35 years. After he retired he then worked for Lance Humphrey's farm in rural Knoxville, Illinois. He also helped his wife with antiques, owning and operating Rug Beaters Antiques and Tag Sales.
He was a member of Maxey Chapel Church in Rural Knoxville, Illinois; Knox County Farm Bureau; and Union Local. He enjoyed woodworking and his grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at the Knoxville Cemetery, Knoxville, Illinois. Rev. Milton Marquith officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Monday, October 15, 2012 at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes & Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the grandchildren.
