|Ross M. Woodside, age 70 of Oneida, Illinois died at 12:51 A.M. on Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at OSF St Francis Medical Center, Peoria, Illinois.
He was born on December 14, 1941 in Oneida, Illinois, the son of Norman and Imogene (Ross) Woodside. He was a 1960 Graduate of ROVA High School.
He married Loretta Jean Smith on February 9, 1963 at the Wataga Congregational Church in Wataga, Illinois.
Those left to honor his memory are his wife and children: Ross (and Sharon) Woodside of Bloomington, Illinois; MiChelle (and Pat) Welch of Rural Altona, Illinois; and Rory Woodside of Oneida, Illinois. Nine grandchildren: Kristen, Lauren, Ryan, Austin, MacKenzie, Nicole, Kyle, Bret and Jenna. His brothers and sisters: Kathryn McDermott, Jean Riley, Bob (and Joan) Woodside, Larry (and Connie) Woodside & Dale Woodside.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Richard Woodside.
Ross was a devoted Husband, Father and Grandfather who enjoyed attending events and activities of his grandchildren. He worked for twenty-five years as a Maintenance and Transportation Director at the R.O.W.V.A. Community School District. Longtime member of Little John Conservation Club where he served on the Board. He was a member of the Congregational Church of Wataga, Illinois and the former Oneida Masonic Lodge #337, then transferred to the Masonic Rio Lodge #685. He had a passion for fishing and camping. He was an avid follower of the St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Bears and Fighting Illini. Ross gave the gift of life as an organ donor.
Funeral Services will be held at 3 P.M. on Sunday, October 21st, 2012 at the ROWVA High School Gym in Oneida, Illinois. Rev. Donald Reynolds officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Saturday, October 20th, 2012 at the Hurd Hendricks Funeral Home and Crematory in Oneida, Illinois, with masonic services at 7:00 P.M. by the Rio Lodge #685. Interment will be in the Oneida Cemetery, Oneida, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the ROWVA Athletic Boosters, Oneida, Illinois, or Little John Conservation Club, Victoria, Illinois.
