|William Roy "Bud" Pieper, age 85 of Berwick, died at 11:15 am Tuesday, October 23, 2012, at his home.
He was born on May 6, 1927 in Schuyler County, the son of Walter S. and Mary Ellen (Leffers) Pieper. He married Mary Smith on August 17, 1947 in Bushnell. She preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Walter "Pete" Pieper, one sister, Dorothy Hale, one grandson, Pepte Bishop and one great-grandson, Hank Meyer.
Bud is survived by his children, Roy E. Pieper of Berwick, Charles (and Linda) Pieper of rural Gilson and Patricia A. (and Junior) Bishop of Berwick; twelve grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; four sisters, Evelyn (and Dwight) Goodin of Galesburg, Alice (and Frank) Henry in the state of Louisiana, Edna Smith of Macomb and Betty (and Charles) Connor of Good Hope.
He was a Navy Veteran of WW II and served on the USS Hornet. He lived in the Abingdon and Berwick areas most of his life. He worked at the American Sanitary Company in Abingdon, Midwest Manufacturing in Galesburg, and at Whitenack Tire Service in Abingdon. He enjoyed his retirement and his hobbies included hunting, fishing, gardening and spending time with his family.
Graveside service will be held at 10:00 am Friday, October 26, 2012 at the Bushnell Township Cemetery. Mrs. Eleanor Landon will officiate. There will be no visitation. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
