Hopson, Richard D.
Richard D. Hopson, 76, of Roseville, IL passed away Tuesday October 30, 2012, 2:47 am at the OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg, IL.

He was born November 25, 1935 in Richfield, IL the son of Russell and Alberta Schmalsh of Hopson. He married Jean Gavin on December 14, 1970 in Moline, IL. He is survived by his wife of Roseville, IL; two daughters Julie Hopson of Coal Valley, IL and Jane Hopson of Downs, IL; two sisters Mary Turner of Roseville, IL and Marge (Rolland) Rodgers of Roseville, IL; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and 1 brother (Don Schmalshof ).

He was born in Richfield, IL and moved to rural Warren County in 1941. He graduated from Roseville High School in 1953. He worked for Knapp Implement in Raritan, IL which later he purchased and operated as D and J Implement which later became Hopson Sales and Service for 50 years. He was a member of the Mohammed Shriners of Peoria, IL and Consistory Valley of Moline, IL. He was a member of the Roseville Masonic Lodge # 519 for 50 years. He was a member of Midwest Oliver Collectors, and enjoyed collecting Oliver tractors of all sizes. He coached his daughters Pee Wee and Little League and Softball teams. He served on the Roseville Fire Dept. and was a member of the Raritan Fire Dept. He enjoyed watching his daughters in Roseville Sporting events and watching his nieces and nephews play sports.

Funeral service will be Saturday November 3, 2012, 11:00 am at the Corman Memorial Home Roseville, IL. Family will receive friends on Friday November 2, 2012 from 5:00-7:00 pm at Corman Memorial Home, Roseville, IL. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Monmouth, IL. Memorials may be made to the Raritan Fire Dept, American Cancer Society Relay for Life. Please sign the online guestbook at www.cormanmh.com.
