Saline, Mary Regina
Mary Regina "Jeane" Saline, 90, of Rio, Ill., died Thursday, October 10, 2013 in Rosewood Care Center in Galesburg.

Jeane was born December 21, 1922 in Wyoming, Ill. the daughter of Ralph and Bernadette (Sager) Cox. She attended a one room grade school one mile from her farm until fifth grade. Then she finished grade school at Sandham Grade School in Wyoming. She attended Wyoming High School. After graduation, she took a two year teaching course at Western Illinois University in Macomb. She taught 7th and 8th grade Language Arts at Sandham Grade School in Wyoming. While teaching there, she had her two youngest brothers, Bill and Bob, as students. She married John A. "Jack" Saline on November 8, 1952 at St. Dominic's Catholic Church in Wyoming.

After marriage, she finished out the school year at Sandham Grade School, staying with her parents through the week and traveling to Rio on the weekends. At that point, she became a homemaker and helped her husband on the farm. After their children were grown, she enjoyed painting barn scenes with her sisters, traveling, and watching her grandchildren play in sports. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Woodhull. She was also a member of Homemakers Extension, Womens Club, The Red Hats, and St. John's Altar and Rosary Society. She was president of Rio PTA and a Cub Scout leader.

She is survived by her husband, Jack; four sons, Dale (and Petra) Saline, Glenn (and Angie) Saline, Wayne (and Barb) Saline, and Paul (and Beth) Saline, all of Rio; three daughters, Sue Saline of Castro Valley, Calif., Mary Beth Saline of Rio; and Leslie (and Duane) Styles of San Diego, Calif.; five grandsons, Ross, Evan, Grant, Brett, and Cameron Saline; two granddaughters, Brooke and Savannah Saline; one step granddaughter; one step great granddaughter; one brother, William (and Jeanie) Cox of Wyoming; and three sisters, Betty Banz of Wyoming, Mildred (and Gene) Stear of Davenport, Iowa, and Lois (and Jerry) Smith of Peoria, Ill. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Kenneth, Clement, and Robert Cox; two brothers-in-law, Sterling Saline and Douglas Banz; and two nephews, Gregory Banz and Keith Cox.

Visitation will be 9:30 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel followed by a funeral at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Rio Baptist Cemetery.
