Stroops, Carl V., Jr.
Carl V. Stroops, Jr, age 82, of Galesburg, Illinois, died on Friday, November 13, 2009 at 5:08 A.M. at Marigold Health Care Center in Galesburg, Illinois.

He was born on July 27, 1927 in Galesburg, Illinois, the son of Carl V. and Ethel Gladys Stambaugh Stroops, Sr.

He married Sharon Sisty in Galesburg, Illinois.

Surviving are:

Sons: Ronald L. (Linda) Stroops of Galesburg, Illinois; Carl V. (Diane Pignato) Stroops III of Elk Grove Village, Illinois; Six Grandchildren and Six Great Grandchildren; Brother: Charles "Smokey" Stroops of Galesburg, Illinois.

Preceded in death by his parents; one son: David M. Stroops; one sister: Clarice Rogers; and five brothers: Franklin Stroops, George Stroops, Richard Stroops, Robert Stroops, and Terry Stroops.

He was reared and educated in Galesburg, Illinois attending Douglas Grade School and graduating from Galesburg High School. He then attended Browns Business College in Galesburg, Illinois.

He served in the United States Navy from April 10, 1945 until July 31, 1946 where he received the World War II Victory Medal, American Area Ribbon and the Asiatic-Pacific Area Ribbon.

He worked as a machinist at Butler Manufacturing Co in Galesburg, Illinois.

He attended the Calvary Assembly of God Church in Galesburg, Illinois.

Cremation Rites will be accorded.

Graveside Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. at the East Linwood Cemetery in Galesburg, Illinois with Military Rites conducted by the Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post # 285 of Galesburg, Illinois.

Rev. Bob Malone officiating.

There will be no visitation.

Memorials may be made to the Calvary Assembly of God Church Building Fund.
