James, Rene A.
Rev. Rene A. James, age 72 of Alpha, died Thursday, November 12, 2009 at Seminary Manor in Galesburg.

Memorial services are 2:00 PM Saturday November 21, 2009 at the Orion Christian Church in Orion, Illinois. Private Burial will be at a later date. Friends may greet the family one hour prior to services Saturday at the church where memorials may be left to Seminary Village in Galesburg, Illinois. Peterson Wallin Knox Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements and online condolences can be made at www.petersonwallinknox.com.

He was born April 19, 1937 in Castleford, Idaho to John and Lucy Burkhalter James. He graduated from Buhl, Idaho High School in 1955. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1955 to 1959 as a radioman 3rd Class and was employed as a TV Repairman until 1974. Rene married Joanne Duensing in Buhl, Idaho and later married Linda S. Squibb February 15, 1992 in Nashua, Iowa.

Rene graduated from Concordia Seminary in Fort Wayne, Indiana in 1977 and began his vicarage at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Williamsburg, Iowa. He was later pastor at Hope Lutheran in Siqourney and St. Martin in What Cheer, Iowa. Most recently he was employed as a salesman in the Insurance Industry and after retirement kept busy delivering freight.

He enjoyed gardening, hiking, camping and collecting coins. He loved to talk with people and help out when needed and he enjoyed engineering and constructing parade floats.

Survivors include his wife, Linda, 7 children, Gregory (Brenda) James of Hampshire, Il, Deborah James of Fisher, IN, Tracey Nolan of Seymour, IN, Jennifer (Dan) Werries of Midland, MI, Michael (Julie) James of Downs, Il, Andrew (Christine) James of Sammamish, WA, Jason James of Seymour, IN, a step-daughter Tonya (Mark) Burger of Adel, Iowa, 17 grandchildren, 1 step grandchild, 1 sister Louise (Ed) Swayze of Filer, Idaho, 2 brothers Fred (Cherri) James of Buhl, ID and Frank (Loretta) James of Prineville, Oregon.

His parents preceded him in death.
