Bergstrom, Reginald J.
Reginald J. Bergstrom age 92 of Woodhull, Il. died Tuesday November 17,
2009 at OSF Saint Mary Medical Center in Galesburg.

Services are 2:30 PM Saturday at Bethany Lutheran Church in Woodhull. Burial is in the Woodhull cemetery. Visitation is from 2 - 6 PM Friday at the Peterson
Wallin Knox Funeral Home in Woodhull, where memorials may be left for

He was born in Andover Township, Henry County, Illinois on April 25, 1917 to Luther and Ella Bogren Bergstrom. He was reared and educated in the Woodhull area, farmed north of Woodhull and attended Augustana Lutheran Church in Andover.

He married Joyce M. Hicks of East Moline September 21, 1946 in Peace Lutheran Church, Barstow, Illinois. He continued to farm for 8 years until in 1954 he formed the Bergstrom Seed and Grain Company in Woodhull. In 1957 he moved his family to Woodhull and attended Bethany Lutheran Church.

His memberships include the Woodhull Masonic Lodge #502, the Illinois Crop Improvement Association, the Illinois Seed Dealer Association, the Illinois Grain Dealers Association, the Cooperative Feed Dealers Association and the AlWood Business Association. He served for 22 years as Secretary and member of the Board of Directors of Woodhull Community. Telephone Company, 26 years as Secretary of the Board of Trustees of the Clover Township Fire Protection District, and 8 years as Secretary of the Advisory Board of Financial Security Life Insurance Company of Moline.

In 1994 he helped to organize Clover Manor of Woodhull and later serviced on its Board of Directors. He also served on committees for the Illinois Crop Improvement Association and the Small Grain Commodities Association. In addition he had served on both Andover and Woodhull Lutheran Church Boards. He and Joyce had a wonderful retirement in Illinois and Arizona. He enjoyed playing golf and loved
his family, his community and his friends.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Joyce, sons Robert (Verna) Bergstrom of Alpha, Richard (Setsuko) Bergstrom of Fremont, CA, grandchildren Inger (Bruce) Krieg of House Springs, MO, Andrea Bergstrom of Champaign, IL, Erik (Lisa) Bergstrom of Elm Grove, WI, Reggie Bergstrom and Kristina Bergstrom both of Fremont, CA, great grandchildren Marissa Krieg of House Springs, and Mia and Tessa Bergstrom of Elm Grove, WI.

His parents, 1 son Mark and brothers Kermit and Ellsworth preceded him
in death.
