Blindt, LeRoy C.
LeRoy C. Blindt 80 of Smithshire, IL passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family, on Sunday November 22, 2009, 3:24 pm.

He was born on April 27, 1929 on the family farm in West Point, IA, the son of Frank and Teresa Jacobsmier Blind. LeRoy and Jean were married on October 27, 1954.

He is survived by his wife of Smithshire, IL; one daughter Rebecca (Dave) Gillett of Avon, IL; two sons Mark (Joan) Blindt of Smithshire, IL, and Todd (Tammie) Blindt of Vermont, IL; 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; four sisters Francilla Kottenstette of Lisbon, IA, Dorine Kenel of Ft. Madison, IA, Le Ann Miller of Salem, IA, and Mary Lou Hulsebus of Branson, MO; two brothers Robert Blind of West Point, IA, and Francis Blindt of Austin, TX; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, and 1 sister.

LeRoy served in the US Army during the Korean War from March 16, 1951 to December 15, 1952 in the 8th Army. Tec Sergeant with the field battery C 936th field Artillery Battalion. He farmed in the Point Pleasant Township for 55 years. He and his wife received the St. Isadore award last fall from Bishop Jenky of the Peoria Diocese. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Lawson Babbitt American Legion Post in Roseville, IL. His big loves were his family and farming.

Funeral Mass will be Wednesday November 25, 2009 10:00 am at St. Patrick's Catholic Church Raritan, IL. Burial will be in the St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery with military rites by the Lawson Babbitt American Legion Post #614. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 24, 2009 from 6:00-8:00 pm with a rosary beginning at 5:30 pm at the Corman Memorial Home Roseville.
