|Mr. John W. "Jack" Gumm, 82, of 577 Knox Road 1250N, Galesburg, Ill., died at 5:15 p.m. Saturday, November 6, 2010 at Knox County Nursing Home, Knoxville, Ill.
He was born on November 27, 1927 in Galesburg to Edwin and Janet Chapman Gumm. He married E. Jane Pottorf in Rio, Ill. on November 26, 1950. She survives.
Also surviving are three sons, James Gumm, Douglas Gumm and Michael (and Jean) Gumm, all of Galesburg; a sister, Dorothy Pickney of Littleton, Colo.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren..
Jack farmed for 58 years.
He was a 1945 graduate of Galesburg High School and attended Monmouth (Ill.) College.
Jack served in the US Army from 1946 to 1947. He was a board member of the Knox County Farm Bureau, the National Cattleman's Association, and Spoon River Farm Services. He was past president of the Knox Livestock Feeders Association. He served on the Knox County Fair Board for 13 years and was a trustee for Galesburg Township.
Graveside memorial services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens with Rev. James Ecklund officiating. Memorials may be made to the family to establish a trust fund for the grandchildren.
