|Rose M. Hartshorn, 88, 311 E. Simmons St., Galesburg, died at 8:25 a.m. Friday, October 29, 2010 in Heartland Health Care Center.
She was born September 13, 1922 in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of Burton and Daisy Mae VanTasle Baxter. She married Henry S. Hartshorn on March 4, 1939 in Dubuque. He preceded her in death in 1967.
She is survived by six sons, Dick (and Linda) Hartshorn of Galesburg, Roger (and Alice) Hartshorn of Huntley, Ill., Ron Hartshorn of Galesburg, Bill (and Sherry) Hartshorn of Wisconsin Dells, Jim (and Linda) Hartshorn of Galesburg, and Bob Hartshorn of Galesburg, a daughter, Pam (and Jeff) Ditgen of Hutchinson, Kan., 23 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren, and a sister, Juanita (and John) Barrett of Dubuque. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Rose was a homemaker and mother. She enjoyed knitting, dancing, and singing. While growing up in Dubuque in the 1930's, she sang on the radio station KDTH. She was a member of Harvest Church of God in East Galesburg.
Cremation will be accorded. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Joseph Cemetery with Rev.
