|Eugene "Gene" R. Hunter, 65, of Smithshire, IL, passed away Wednesday, Novemeber 10, 2010, 6:40 am at his home. He was born April 28, 1945 in Monmouth, IL the son of Elmer Raymond and Margaret Leona Beaird Hunter. He married Joyce Ann Ruble on March 26, 1966.
He is survived by his wife of Smithshire, IL; two daughters Amy Hunter of FL, and Tina (Chance) Hunter of Smithshire, IL; one son Bill (Tondi) Hunter of Roseville, IL; 5 grandchildren Chad, Delaney, Kenny, Graison, and Chance; siblings Geraldine Higham of Moline, IL, Louise (Jack) Dutton of Monmouth, IL, Betty (Cliff) Stewart of WI, and Joyce Kaywood of Oquawka, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, step mother Josephine Hunter, 1 son (Kenneth), 1 grandson (Caleb), brother (Marvin Kaywood), 2 sisters Betty, and Ruthie, 1 brother JR.
Gene was born and raised in Monmouth, IL. After marriage he moved to Smithshire where he has lived since. He worked at the Monmouth Pottery, Admirals of Galesburg, and Maxey Drive-In. He has farmed from 1966 until present time. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling and golf. He was a member of the Warren County Sportsman Club. He enjoyed his grandchildren.
Memorial service will be Saturday 3:00 pm November 13, 2010, at the Corman Memorial Home Roseville, IL. Family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at Cormans. Cremation rites have been accorded burial will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the new R.S.P.&E. Fire Station and or Hospice Compassus of Galesburg, IL.
