Carlton, Margery F.
Margery F. Carlton, age 86, of Galesburg, Illinois, formerly of Knoxville Illinois, died at 9:30 A.M. on Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at Heartland Health Care Center in Galesburg, Illinois. She was born on May 12, 1924 in Eliza, Illinois, the daughter of Frank and Mary McCormick Pullen. She married Robert Baxter on November 14, 1942 in Palmyra, Missouri. She later married Gerald J. Carlton on February 17, 1962 in Knoxville, Illinois. He preceded in death on July 18, 2003.

Surviving are three sons, Robert (Evelyn) Baxter of Galesburg, Illinois, Frank (Linda) Baxter of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Mike (Ginger) Baxter of Knoxville, Illinois; daughter-in-law, Wendy Baxter of Houston, Texas; stepson, Henry Carlton of Portland, Maine; twelve grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren and sister, Mary Cecil of Galesburg, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, two sisters and one son: Mark Baxter.

She graduated from Victoria High School in 1942. She was a homemaker and worked for the United States Government as a secretary during World War II. Later she worked as secretary for the Knoxville High School for 25 years, retiring in 1984. She was a member of the Knoxville Christian Church.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 20, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at the Hurd Hendricks Funeral Home and Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois. Rev. David Shreeves officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 19, 2010 from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home in Knoxville, Illinois. Inurnment in Knoxville Cemetery in Knoxville, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the Little Light House in Tulsa, Oklahoma or Up with Downs in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
