|James E. Escue, 88, of 90 Herring Ave. Galesburg, Ill., died 6:33 a.m. Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at Seminary Manor, Galesburg.
He was born January 26, 1922 in Lawrence, Co. Tenn. to Frank and Mattie Atkisson Escue. He married Elaine F. Hall June 20, 1964 in Chicago, Ill. She survives.
Also surviving is a step son William Hartson of Galesburg, two daughters Jackie Brewer of Smyrna Tenn., and Caroline Bartkus of Nashville, Tenn., three brothers, Bobby Escue of Waverly, Tenn., Gene Escue of Whitehouse, Tenn., and Earl Escue of Nashville, Tenn., three granddaughters, a grandson, two great-granddaughters and five great-grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son David Escue and six brothers.
James was a machine operator for The Boeing Company in the Chicago area and retired in 1984. He was a United States Marine Corp veteran for four years. He was of the Baptist faith. James enjoyed fishing and feeding stray animals.
Graveside service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 20, 2010 at Monmouth Cemetery, Monmouth, Ill with Military Rites by Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285. Memorials can be made to Galesburg Rescue Mission or St. Jude Children's Hospital. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
