|Shirley L. Hoffman, 82, 1305 Beecher Ave., Galesburg, died Tuesday, November 8, 2011 in the Knox County Nursing Home.
She was born April 27, 1929 in Galesburg, the daughter of George and Mabel Nelson Stegall. She married Glen Hoffman on June 27, 1947 in Piggott, Ark.
She is survived by her husband, Glen of 64 years; two daughters, Penny (and Charles) Burdette of Knoxville, Ill. and Patricia (and Jerry) Pierce of Springdale, Ark.; a son, Glen R. "Rusty" (and Robin) Hoffman of Springdale, Ark.; 12 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Michael G. Hoffman on August 23, 2001; and several brothers and sisters. She was the last of her siblings.
Shirley was an EEG Technician at Galesburg Cottage Hospital, retiring after 25 years. She graduated from Galesburg High School in 1947 and lived her entire life in the Altona and Galesburg areas. Glen and Shirley wintered in Texas for many years camping. In addition to camping, Shirley enjoyed square dancing, crafting, and reading.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday, November 14, 2011 in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Chaplain Steven Hoffman and Rev. Lisa Cato-Crider will officiate. Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
