Nelson, Elliot B.
Elliot B. Nelson, 73, of rural Alexis, Ill., died at 12:20 a.m. Friday, November 11, 2011 in Rosewood Care Center, Galesburg.

He was born June 27, 1938 in Alexis the son of Oscar and Mabel Lindeen Nelson.

He is survived by three brothers, Quentin Nelson of Alexis; Eugene (and Janet) Nelson of Galesburg, and DeLoyd (and Nancy) Nelson of Galesburg; a sister-in-law, Janeth Nelson of Galesburg; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Theodore J. Nelson in 2001; and a sister, Maribelle Krause in 2004.

Elliot was a farmer his entire life on the family farm near Alexis. The family is involved in dairy, grain, and livestock farming. He was a member of the Warren County Farm Bureau. He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Henderson Grove, where he was past Sunday school superintendent and was currently the church treasurer.

Elliot attended Forest Flower Country School and graduated from Galesburg High School in 1956. He always looked forward to his high school class reunions. He enjoyed spending time with his family and had a great memory for birthdates and family history. He never missed the Lindeen-Lund family reunion in Iowa or Illinois. He also spent time watching his great great niece, Savannah. He liked to garden, feed the bucket calves and always had time to visit.

Funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Monday, November 14, 2011 in Messiah Lutheran Church, Henderson Grove. Rev. Kurt Carlsen will officiate. Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Burial will be in Henderson Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Messiah Lutheran Church.
