Frey, Kenneth C.
Kenneth C. Frey, age 80 of Abingdon, died at 4:35 pm Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at his home.

He was born on April 21, 1931 in Gnadenhutten, Ohio, the son of Charles A. and Berenice Peggy (Mathias) Frey. He married Barbara Danner in 1954 in Abingdon.

Ken is survived by one son, Kenny Lee (and Ellen) Frey of Bettendorf, Iowa; one daughter, Tonda (and Danny) Carnes of Abingdon; four grandchildren, Nicholas Frey, Katie Carnes, James Carnes and Jacob Carnes. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Jerry Frey, and three sisters, Audrey Baker, Rosalou Decker and Peggy McComb.

He served in the Army during the Korean War. He had lived in Abingdon since 1954. He worked in the paint shop, Department 501, at the former Admiral factory in Galesburg for 37 ½ years, retiring in March of 1991.

He was a member and past commander of the Harry E. Wiles American Legion Post #381 in Abingdon, a member of 40 & 8 Voiture 606 in Galesburg, a member of the VFW in Galesburg and was a charter member of Boy Scout Troop #240 in Abingdon.

Funeral service will be held at 1:30 pm Sunday, November 20, 2011 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel. Mrs. Eleanor Landon will officiate. Burial with military rites by Harry E. Wiles American Legion Post #381 will follow in the Abingdon Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm Saturday at the chapel.
