Coffman, Stephen E.
Stephen E. Coffman, 62, of Galesburg died at 12:20 p.m. Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, Ill.

He was born June 26, 1949 in Cameron, Mo., the son of Roy Eugene and Willa Belle Carter Coffman. He married Trudy Howard on May 26, 1973 in Lamoni, Iowa. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Amber Nicole (Chad) Myers of Hopedale, Ill. and Hilary Dawn (Zack) McNeil of Olathe, Kan.; his father, Roy E. Coffman of Lees Summit, Mo; two brothers, Darwin (Jeannette) Coffman of Grain Valley, Mo. and Galyn (Denise) of Independence, Mo.; three grandchildren, Brandon, Ava and Reese and six nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother, Willa Belle Coffman in 2011 and his son, Brandon W. Coffman in 1978.

Steve began working as a school teacher at Lombard Junior High for 6 years; he then worked for Halls Trucking for 3 years. He later worked for Maytag Corporation as a materials manager for 19 years. He also worked as shipping manager for Heat and Control for 5 years. He retired August 13, 2011. He graduated from Truman High School in Independence, Mo. in 1967 and Graceland College in 1972. Steve was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where he drove the church van, ushered and videotaped the services. He was a member of the Jaycees and the Dew Dusters Golf League. He enjoyed traveling, golf and was an avid sports fan.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, November 19, 2011 at First United Methodist Church. Rev. Melva England will officiate. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Friday evening at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church or to the March of Dimes.
