|Leo D. Brooks, Jr., 83, of Galesburg, died at 1:56 a.m. Thursday, November 24, 2011 in Seminary Manor.
He was born February 28, 1928 in Galesburg, the son of Leo D. and Irene Mary Worden Brooks, Sr. He married Donna J. Denly in 1951 in Galesburg. She preceded him in death on April 26, 2000.
He is survived by a son, Michael E. Brooks of Galesburg; a daughter, Linda J. (and James) Ward of Houston, Texas; three grandchildren; two step grandchildren; one great grandchild; two step great grandchildren; two brothers, Thomas J. Brooks of Cameron, Ill. and Robert D. Brooks of Galesburg; and a sister, Mary V. Wilson of Thornton, Colo. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Richard E. Brooks; and a sister, Patricia I. Brooks.
Leo was a towerman for the Burlington Northern Railroad for 42 years, retiring in 1990. He graduated from Corpus Christi High School in 1946. He was past president of Costa CCA and was a member of the Costa School board. Leo was a member of TCU Lodge #867 and had served as chairman of the Galesburg Housing Rehabilitation Committee. He had lived in Galesburg his entire life.
Cremation will be accorded. Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, December 1, 2011 in Memorial Park Cemetery. Rev. Don Reynolds will officiate. There will be no visitation.
