Ray, Susy May
Susy May Ray, 83 of Avon, IL passed away Saturday November 17, 2012, 3:20 am at her home.

She was born March 13, 1929 in Creelman, Saskatchewan, Canada, the daughter of Harry and Rosy Schmutz. She was raised and educated in Zurich, Switzerland. She married Roger McPhail in Zurich, Switzerland. She later married Ron Ray of Avon, IL on February 22, 1986. She is survived by her husband and best friend Ron Ray of Avon, IL; her daughter, Jennifer McPhail of Avon, IL; her stepsons, Michel (Brooks)Ray of Oklahoma City, OK, and Phillip (Julie) Ray of Piedmont, OK; 6 grandchildren, her granddaughter, Wendy (Jeff) Martin; 4 great grandchildren of Fayetteville, ARK. and 3 nieces, Petra Neiderman,of Boswil Switzerland, Barbara Serrat, Zurich, Switzerland, and Sabina Zulliger, of Gross-Thondorf, Germany. She was preceded in death by her parents and only sibling Burga Zulliger of Muri, Switzerland, and her loving dogs, Coco, Baily, and Kiya who brought her much joy and happiness in her years of recovery from cancer.

She worked for the Lillie/Harmon Insurance Company in Avon, IL as a secretary and Brown Specialty Company, Galesburg, IL as a bookkeeper for years until the closing of the business.

Susy had a passion for cooking, gardening, her flowers, bird watching and animals. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband, Ron to visit her stepsons and grandchildren in OK, her granddaughter and great grandchildren in ARK, and all her family in Switzerland.

Cremation rites will be accorded. A celebration of life will be held on November 24, 2012 from 3:00-5:00 pm at her home, 217 Fulton St. Avon, IL. Memorials May be made to the Humane Society of Fulton County, Canton, IL and Hospice/Harbor Lights, Galesburg, IL.
