Gimenez, Margaret
Mrs. Margaret Gimenez, 88, of Galesburg died at 2:45 pm Monday, November 18, 2013 in Seminary Manor Nursing Home.

She was born June 10, 1925 in a boxcar in the Sante Fe Camp in Galesburg, Ill. the daughter of Juan and Leonor Flores Alvarez Luna. She married Adolphus Vargas. She later married the love of her life, Jesse A. Gimenez on March 21, 1964 in Galesburg. He preceded her in death on October 2, 1999.

She is survived by two daughters, Gloria (John) Gall of Rock Island, Ill. and Victoria Duarte of Peoria, Ill.; three brothers, Carlos Luna, Vincent (Pat) Luna and Jesse (Nancy) Luna all of Galesburg; her sister, Alberta (and the late, Jesse) Vega of Galesburg, Ill., three grandchildren, Victoria (Daniel) Hayden, Maria (Jose) Barragan and Juan Duarte, nine great grandchildren and many friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, her daughter, Yolanda, two brothers Jim and Nick Luna and her sister, Tony Luna.

Margaret worked in clerical for the District #205. She managed Carlson Cleaners and translated for the court systems. Margaret and her husband owned and operated a cleaning service and were real estate investors. She later babysat for families after she retired. She volunteered for the Carver Community Center. She was a past member of the LULAC Club. She was a member of St. Patricks Catholic Church and the Altar Rosary Society. She enjoyed dancing to Mexican music and was an expert seamstress. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend.

A Funeral Mass is scheduled for 10 am Friday, November 22, 2013 at St. Patricks Catholic Church. Rev. Deus Dedit-Byabato will officiate. Visitation will be 5-7 pm Thursday evening at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with the Rosary prayed at 7 pm. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the St. Patricks Catholic Church. Online condolences may be offered at www.h-p-w.com
