Martinson, James
James Julian Martinson, age 76, of Altona, Illinois died at 4:10 A.M. on Monday, November 18, 2013 at the Knox County Nursing Home in Knoxville, Illinois

He was born on March 10, 1937 in Galesburg, Illinois the son of Lawrence Theodore and Elaine Johnson Martinson. He married Frances Carol Gravitt on March 27, 1954 in Peoria, Illinois. She survives of Altona, Illinois.

He is survived by his children: James E. (Karole) Martinson of Victoria, Illinois; Julie (Steve) Jordan-Brandt of Oneida, Illinois; Jeffrey D. (Rose) Martinson of Oneida, Illinois; and Joseph Joe (Coleen) Martinson of Victoria, Illinois. Twelve grandchildren: Jessica (John) Kuelper, Emily Martinson, Molly (Mathew Kuelper) Martinson, Kyle (Jenna) Jordan, Benjamin Olson, Jeremy (Amy) Martinson, Nolan Martinson, Krissy Martinson, Nicki (Randy) Steward, Annie (Cory) Huffman, Josiah (Sarah) Martinson, Zachary Martinson. Twenty-two great-grandchildren. Also surviving are brothers and sisters: Eleanor Masden of Galesburg, Illinois, Albert E. Martinson of San Diego, California, Omer A. (Bobbie) Martinson of Victoria, Illinois, Florence J. Reisenbigler of San Diego, California, Jeanette Schultz of Wataga, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Ted, and Ellis.

He worked construction in the Galesburg area working for Galesburg Johnson Construction, Fox Construction and Lundeen Construction. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Altona, Illinois, Charter member and past President of the Victoria Rod and Gun Club, and a social member of the Charles Warrensford American Legion Post 726 of Victoria, Illinois.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at the Hurd- Hendricks Funeral Home in Oneida, Illinois. Rev. Tim Anderson will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, November 21, 2013. Interment will be held at the Walnut Grove Cemetery, Altona, Illinois.
