|Robert I. "Scooter" Carter, Jr., 20, of Galesburg, died at 11:50 a.m. Wednesday, November 20, 2013 in OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
He was born June 24, 1993 in Galesburg.
He is survived by his parents, Jennifer Harris of Galesburg and Robert I. Carter Sr. of Peoria; a son, Leland James Strong Carter of Galesburg; his fiance', Mariah Salazar of Galesburg; mother of his son, Natalie Strong of Galesburg; brothers, Bobby (and Lorena) Harris of Bloomington, Leon Oliver of Galesburg, Antwaun Harris of Peoria, and Josiah Carter of Galesburg; sisters, Ralonda Mitchell Harris, Tara Harris, and Hannah Carter, all of Galesburg; grandparents, Ann (and Ed) Walton of Peoria and Ruby Harris of Galesburg; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, George Harris and Douglas Dyer.
Robert was attending Carl Sandburg College and working at Menard's until his illness no longer allowed. He was a music producer and enjoyed computers, writing, science, and public speaking. He was of Baptist faith.
Funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Rev. Jon Sibley will officiate. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the chapel.
