|Mr. Kendall Davis Johnson, 86, passed away late Friday evening, December 4, 2009.
He was born October 21, 1923 in Carman, IL to William H. and Grace L. Davis Johnson. He married Jeanette A. Stump on February 10, 1973 in Galesburg, IL.
He will be missed by his wife of 36 years, his two sons, David (Linda) Johnson of Tempe, AZ and Alan Johnson of Mesa, AZ, his step daughter Linda Hill of Aurora, IL, his grandchildren Allison, Travis, Mark, Justin and Sarah, his three great grandchildren, his brother-in-law, Harvey Stremmel of Galesburg and sister-in-law Betty Morris of Galesburg. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Ellen Stites, two brothers, Max & Wally, one sister Pauline, and one infant grandson.
He graduated from Monmouth High School in 1941 and served in the Army Air Force during World War II.
He worked for Midwest, which became Admiral and then Maytag for over 40 years, retiring in 1989 as superintendent. He finished first in the Maytag Golf League at Bunker Links six times between 1983 and 2003. He loved his dog Rusty and the Chicago Cubs.
Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, December 9 at 1:00PM at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. The Rev. Tom Ek will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the Chapel. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens with Military Honors by Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285.
