Fields, J. Marhsall Jr.
J. Marshall Fields, Sr, age 91, of Knoxville, Illinois died on Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at 11:10 A.M. at Cottage Hospital in Galesburg, Illinois.

He was born on March 16, 1918 in Gilson, Illinois, the son of John Monroe and Gertrude Davies Fields.

He married Helen Louise Hanson on October 25, 1942 in Cameron, Illinois.

She survives of Knoxville, Illinois.

Also surviving are:

Daughters: Mary Ann (Marv) Blair of Denver, Colorado, Marsha (David) Bailey of Gilson, Illinois

Sons: John M. (Lynn) Fields of Galesburg, Illinois, Robert W. Fields of Knoxville, Illinois

Grandchildren: Karla (Ed) Schultz of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Karen (Robert) St. George of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Kathy Grubb of Galesburg, Illinois

Two Step Grandchildren: Alaina (Jason) Shuey and Brianna Laugesen

Step Great Grandchildren: Dace, Tyler, Matthew, and Madison

Preceded in death by his parents, one brother: Ronald Fields and one sister: Myrtle Colwell

He was raised and educated in Gilson, Illinois graduating from Knoxville High School.

He was a farmer in the Gilson and Knoxville, Illinois areas.

He was an active member of the Knoxville United Methodist Church.

He served on the Federal Land Bank Committee and was a member of the Knox County Farm Bureau.

He was a local director of Blue Cross Blue Shield Insurance.

He was a member of the Bunco Club, neighborhood pinochle club and the rural youth pinochle club.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 12, 2009 at 1:30 P.M. at the Hurd Hendricks Funeral Home and Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois. Rev. Robert Herath officiating.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 11, 2009 from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. at the Hurd Hendricks Funeral Home in Knoxville, Illinois.

Burial in Westfall Cemetery in rural Victoria, Illinois.
