|Hazel L. Kimbrough, 96, of 705 Michigan Ave., Galesburg, IL passed away peacefully at 12:27 A.M. on Friday, December 11, 2009 at Heartland Health Care Center.
She was born November 11, 1913 in Ray, OK to the late Harrison Gullick and Elnora (McConnell) Jarman; #716 on the Cherokee Freedman-Dawes Roll and made her home in Galesburg.
Every spring Hazel looked forward to gardening in her lovely flower beds. Along with gardening, she also was considered a master of fine crafts such as needle point, sewing and knitting. She also loved to read and cook.
Hazel is survived by four sons, Eugene H. (Hope) Goodlow of Galesburg, Cleatis P. (Carolyn) Goodlow of Portland, OR, and James F. Kimbrough and Charles B. Kimbrough, both of Galesburg, a daughter, Deborah F. Kimbrough of Galesburg; 42 grandchildren, 72 great grandchildren, 14 great great grandchildren and a longtime friend, Elenor Reynolds of Galesburg.
Hazel was preceded in death by grandparents Andrew J. McConnell and Sallie (Harlon) McConnell; #715 on the Cherokee Freedman-Dawes Roll, a brother, Ellsworth McKinley, husbands, William L. Goodlow, Wayne Blackwell and Frank J. Kimbrough, two sons, William L. Goodlow and Leroy R. Kimbrough, four daughters, Mary J. Goodlow, Helen L. Shelton, Sheila A. Taylor and Grace E. Kimbrough, and three grandsons.
Funeral will be 1:30 PM Monday December 21, 2009 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. The Rev. Jon Sibley will officiate. Visitation will be 2 to 4 PM Sunday at the chapel. Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery.
