Irene E. Bruce, age 96, of Knoxville, Illinois died on Friday, December 18, 2009 at 9:55 A.M. at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Knoxville, Illinois.
She was born on June 4, 1913 in Galesburg, Illinois, the daughter of Clarence R. and Amelia Ostrom Trotter.
She married Dwight M. Bruce on August 28, 1932 in Knoxville, Illinois.
He preceded her in death on May 21, 1998.
Surviving are:
Daughter: Beverly Clark of Galesburg, Illinois
Grandson: Mark Clark of Nashville, Tennessee
Brother: David C. Trotter of Tacoma, Washington
Preceded by her parents; husband and one brother: Don Trotter
She was raised and educated in Galesburg, Illinois graduating from Galesburg High School in 1931. She was a homemaker.
She was active in the Grace Lutheran Church in Knoxville, Illinois as well as their Phoebe Sewing Circle and Rebecca Circle.
She was a member of the Knoxville Women's Club and the Pinochle Club of Galesburg, Illinois.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at the Hurd Hendricks Funeral Home in Knoxville, Illinois with Visitation beginning at 10:00 A.M. Rev. Michel D. Clark officiating.
Burial in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens in Galesburg, Illinois.
