|Mr. William H. Alstedt, 83, of 4343 Kennedy Dr., East Moline, IL, formerly of Galesburg, died at 11:47 PM Monday in Illini Hospital emergency room in Silvis, IL.
He was born November 25, 1926 in Alexis, IL, the son of Arthur E. and Francis Reem Alstedt. He married Katherine Wyman on July 17, 1945 in Galesburg. She preceded him in death on June 13, 1983.
He is survived by two sons, Jerry (Melodee) Alstedt of Coal Valley, IL and Richard (Sandy) Alstedt of Frisco, TX; a daughter, Susan (Paul) Holmes of Colorado Springs, CO; two brothers, Gene (Kathy) Alstedt and Joseph (Ruth) Alstedt, both of Galesburg; a sister, Mary Lou Leath of Galesburg; four grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a brother and a sister.
He served in the US Army for two years during World War II in Japan.
He worked as a machine operator for International Harvester in East Moline for 30 years, retiring in 1981. He was born and raised in Alexis, moving to Moline, Coal Valley and finally Galesburg in 1978. He was a member of the Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285. He was a former member of the Presbyterian Church in Moline.
Graveside services are scheduled for 10:00 AM Saturday January 2, 2010 in the Greenview Cemetery in East Moline. The Rev. Scott Culley will officiate. There will be no visitation.
