Lewis, Sharon Kay
Sharon Kay Lewis,69, of Monmouth died at 10:00 AM Friday, December 4, 2009 at the Care Center of Abingdon.

She was born September 15, 1940 in Rankin, Illinois the daughter of Eugene and June (Nelson) Custer. She was raised and educated in Rankin and Little York, graduating from Little York High School in 1958. She later graduated in 1985 from Park College in Park, Missouri with a B.S. in Social Psychology.

Sharon married David R. Lewis, Jr. at the Sugar Tree Grove Church on February 21, 1959 and he survives.

Sharon was a homemaker and worked at Monmouth College in the Business Office for 1 year. She later worked at Wichita College for 3 years and then spent 5 years with the Air Force Civil Service in Sicily, Germany, Wyoming and Alabama. She also worked for Wal-Mart in Las Vegas for 3 years.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Macomb. She also was a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Sorority. Sharon volunteered as a den mother for the Cub Scouts.

Surviving is husband, David R. Lewis, Jr. of Monmouth; one daughter, Sharon Renee (Matthew) Kesner-Lewis of Los Altos, CA; one son, David Eugene Lewis of Littleton, CO; 3 grandchildren, William Miles Kesner, Kathryn Florence Kesner and Dalton Montgomery Lewis; two sisters, Sandra Lynn Benson of North Henderson, IL and Patti Ann (Joe) McCaw of New Windsor, IL; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Wed. December 9, 2009 at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel in Monmouth with Rev. John Irwin of the Heritage United Presbyterian Church in Monmouth officiating. Burial will be in Alexis Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2009 at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel in Monmouth, where her family will be present from 5:00-7:00 P.M.

Memorials may be given to Heritage United Presbyterian Church.
