Blanche Elethia "Lee" Burkhalter, age 81, of Galesburg, Illinois, died at 2:20 AM on Thursday, December 2, 2010 at Marigold Health Care Center in Galesburg, Illinois.
She was born on March 11, 1929 in Okeechobee, Florida, the daughter of John Robert and Maude Paulette Ezella Stanley. She married Ivan L. Burkhalter on August 25, 1953 in Georgia.
Surviving are two daughters, Patti J. (John) Davis of Galesburg, Illinois and Kathy J. (Don) Underwood of Rio, Illinois; one son, John Michael (Sandra) Burkhalter of Galesburg, Illinois; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one sister, Annette Hostetler of Lake City, Florida and one brother, John Robert Stanley, Jr of Okeechobee, Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents; infant twin brothers and one sister.
She was raised and educated in Florida moving to Galesburg, Illinois in 1954. She was a homemaker and very active farm wife with her husband. She attended Carl Sandburg College in Galesburg, Illinois received her CNA Certificate. She worked for the Visiting Nurses Association and Marigold Health Care Center in Galesburg, Illinois as a CNA. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Cremation Rites will be accorded.
Private Family Services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Family in care of Hurd Hendricks Funeral Home. Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home and Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois in charge of arrangements.
