|Robert D. Allaman, 77, of Galesburg, died 2:05 A.M. Thursday, December 9, 2010 at Rosewood Care Center, Galesburg.
He was born September 9, 1933 in Monmouth, the son of Robert and Mary (Bigger) Allaman. He was raised and educated in Monmouth and graduated from Monmouth High School in 1951.
Robert served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1957.
He married Ann Breckenridge. Robert later married Audrey J. Hendricks on March 8, 1980 in Galesburg and she survives.
He first worked at Barnes Grocery Store. He was in sales with Purina Feeds for 20 years and then worked as a custodian for Galesburg School District 205 for 8 years, retiring in 1995. He dealt in antiques and collectables for 30 years.
He was a lifetime member of the Monmouth Masonic Lodge #37 A.F. and A.M
His family includes his wife, Audrey of Galesburg, one son, Steven (Betty) Allaman of Letts, IA, one daughter, Julie (Mike) McComb of Grinnell, IA, two step-sons, Mike (Debra) Hendricks of North Carolina and Roger (Martha) Hendricks of West Virginia, one step-daughter, Stacy (Douglas) Stambaugh of Galesburg, 23 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and one brother, Larry A. (Chris) Allaman of Kingman, AZ.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 11, 2010 at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Monmouth with Rev. John Frain of Avon. Cremation will be accorded following the services. Burial of ashes will be in Monmouth Cemetery at a later date. Friends may call on Saturday morning at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Monmouth where his family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. Memorials may be left for Hospice Compassus.
