|Mrs. Carlene Case, 83, of Galesburg, IL, died at 5:20 p.m. Sunday, December 12, 2010 at her home.
She was born July 6, 1927 in Galesburg the daughter of Edwin and Ernestine Weber Blair. She married John A. Case on January 8, 1949 in Galesburg. He survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Thomas Edwin Case of Chagrin Falls, Ohio and John David Case of Houston, Texas; a brother, James E. (Linda) Blair of Galesburg; a sister, Jeannine Milam of Creve Coeur, Ill.; two grandchildren, Lindsey and Alexandria Case and a great grandchild, Cecilia Marie Case. She is preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Adam Case.
Carlene worked in department stores in Elmhurst, Ill. and Olean, N.Y. She graduated from Galesburg High School in 1945. She was a member of the PEO Chapter NK, the Almondata Club and Soangetaha Country Club. She served as den mother for the Boy Scouts and was involved with the Girl Scouts. She volunteered for the OSF St. Mary Auxiliary and was a board member for Kid Care. Carlene was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday December 16, 2010 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Rev. Marilyn Anell will officiate. There will be no visitation. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com
