|Lilla Y. Brownell, 90, of Monmouth, died at 8:57 A.M. Thursday, December 16, 2010 at OSF Holy Family Medical Center. Monmouth.
She was born August 5 1920 in Grundy Co., IL, the daughter of Charles and Viola (Watson) Treasure. She was educated in Gardner, IL, graduating from Gardner High School. She later gradated from Hanover College in Indiana.
Lilla married Hiram W.G. Brownell Sr. on May 31, 1942 in Gardner, IL and he died Nov. 10, 1980.
She worked for the War Dept. at the Joliet Arsenal and later taught at Gardner School, Wilmington High School and McLeansboro Township High School in McLeansboro, IL. She also taught at Warren Achievement School for over 20 years before retiring.
She was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority and the Kellogg Chapter of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include her children, Hiram (Pam) Brownell, Jr. of Deer Creek, IL, Treasure (Greg) Marten of Moline and Charles Brownell of Monmouth; 6 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and one brother, Dale (Dorothy) Treasure of Gardner, IL
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a sister and a brother.
Cremation has been accorded. Friends may call Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Monmouth where her family will be present from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Interment at Warren County Memorial Park will be announced at a later date. Memorials may be given to Smile Train, Paralyzed Veterans or Illinois Special Olympics.
