|John R. Clary, 81, of 1720 Willard St., Galesburg, died at midnight, Saturday, December 25, 2010 in Galesburg Cottage Hospital. He formerly lived in East Peoria for 40 years before returning to Galesburg in 2009.
He was born October 12, 1929 in Galesburg, the son of Earl and Ethel Tucker Clary.
Surviving is a sister, Margaret Clary of Galesburg, an aunt, Cleo (Walter) Boler of Norman, Okla., and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Earl E. Clary.
He graduated from Galesburg High School and attended the University of Illinois at Champaign for one year.
He served in the Air Force from 1950 to 1954.
John was employed by the former CB&Q Railroad for 14 years, Keystone Steel and Wire, United Facilities, and several truck lines. He retired in 1990. He loved dogs.
He formerly attended River Edge United Methodist Church in Spring Bay, Ill.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday, December 30, 2010 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Rev. Tom Ek will officiate. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Covenant Church or River Edge United Methodist Church. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
