Whitson, Audley B.
Audley B. Whitson, age 73, of Gilson, Illinois, died at 12:26 PM on Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg, Illinois. He was born on February 20, 1937 in London, Kentucky, the son of Walter V. and Sudie Johnson Whitson. He married Shirley Jane Foster on March 24, 1961 in Elmwood, Illinois. She survives of Gilson, Illinois.

Also surviving are one daughter, Danita Whitson of Galesburg, Illinois; one son, Darin (Pam) Whitson of Monument, Colorado; one daughter-in-law, Michelle M. Whitson of Delong, Illinois; grandchildren, Brandy (Rick) Damer, Dustin, Tiffany, Shauni, Kaleigh, Mason, Brady, Jacie, Connor and Megan Whitson; great grandchildren, Aubree and Raulee Damer; six sisters, Jackie (Bill) White of Cincinnati, Ohio, Jancie (Marty) Firmand of Peoria, Illinois, Leone Young of Peoria Heights, Illinois, Cleda Eddy of Peoria, Illinois, Julie Headford of Indianapolis, Indiana and Georgia (Jerry) Wendland of Peoria, Illinois; and one brother, John R. Whitson of Galesburg, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter: Tina and one son: Audley Daniel Whitson on July 15, 2007.

He was raised and educated in London, Kentucky. He served in the United States Navy from 1954 until 1957. He worked at Gale Products in Galesburg, Illinois and then OMC in Waukegan, Illinois from 1960 until 1980; then at Nelson's in Princeville, Illinois and finally he owned and operated Whitson Yates City Meats, a meat locker in Yates City, Illinois from 1989 until he retired in 1994. He was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and mushroom hunting and playing the guitar.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 4, 2010 at 11:30 A.M. at the Hurd Hendricks Funeral Home and Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois with Visitation beginning at 10:00 A.M. Rev. Don Miller officiating. Burial in Oak Hill Cemetery in Oak Hill, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the Family.
