Gothard, Jane F.
Jane F. Gothard, age 94 of Galesburg, Illinois formerly of Knoxville and Oak Run, Dahinda Illinois died at 3:30 P.M. on Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg, Illinois.

She was born on November 16, 1917 in Jerseyville, Illinois the daughter of Otis C. and Clara Armstrong Voorhees. She graduated from Jersey Twp. High School in 1935, then she attended the University of Illinois, graduating with a B.S. Degree in Home Economics in 1942. She married F. Thomas Gothard, Jr. on December 27, 1942 in Pleasant Valley, Connecticut. He preceded her in death on December 11, 2005.

Surviving are two sons: James E. (Patricia) Gothard of Champaign, Illinois and F. Thomas III (Sandra) Gothard of Cheyenne, Wyoming
Two daughters: Jane Ann (The Late Ernie) McClurg of Urbana, Illinois and Jean Ellen Gothard of Urbana, Illinois. Three Grandchildren; four Step Grandchildren, and 20 Great Grandchildren. Many Nieces and Nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and one sister.

She first taught as Depue, Illinois, then worked for the United States Army Finance office in New York City for three years during World War II. Then for the Wesley Foundation a the University of Illinois in Urbana, Illinois for 45 years, retiring in 1982.

She was a member of the Knoxville United Methodist Church and the Methodist Women, serving both as president and treasurer. The Knoxville Women's Club, M.I. Club. Election Judge and Poll Watcher for Knox County, Persifer Township for many years.

Memorial Services for Thomas and Jane Gothard will be held on Friday, December 16, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes & Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois. Rev. J. William Werner officiating. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to the Wesley Foundation at the Univerity of Illinois, Urbana, Illinois, or the Knoxville United Methodist Church.
