|Eldon N. "Duff" Richardson, 98, of Alexis, died 7:56 A.M. Sunday, December 18, 2011 at OSF Holy Family Medical Center, Monmouth.
He was born March 15, 1913 at Alexis, IL, the son of Arthur and Laura (Sherman) Richardson. He was raised and educated in Alexis.
Duff married Bernice M. Taylor on August 31, 1935 at Rozetta, IL and she survives.
He served in the U.S. Navy with the Seabees during World War II from 1942 to 1945.
He was the school bus mechanic and custodian at Yorkwood School from 1968 until retiring in June 1992.
His family includes his wife, Bernice of Alexis, two daughters, Dixie (Larry) Smith of Woodhull and Nora Frost of Alexis, one son Larry (Patricia) Richardson of Moline, 4 grandchildren, Teresa Smith, Denise Richardson, Brad Richardson and Lelah Jacobs, two sisters-in-law, Mary Avis Richardson of Alexis and Fay Gagg of Galesburg, along with nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers and 1 sister.
Cremation has been accorded. Memorials services and burial of ashes are planned for a future date. Memorials may be left for the Alexis-North Henderson Ambulance Service and left at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel who is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be left at www.hooverhall.com
