Cheline, Elizabeth L.
Elizabeth L. "Betty" Cheline, 87, of Galva, Ill., died at 4:22 p.m. Wednesday, December 21, 2011 in Galesburg Cottage Hospital.

She was born February 29, 1924 in Osco, Ill., the daughter of Gustav Victor and Mary Robertson Freberg. She married Robert R. Cheline on February 10, 1946 in Galesburg. He preceded her in death on May 5, 2003.

She is survived by six sons, Ed (and Sue) Cheline of Rio, Ill., Dick (and Connie) Cheline of Altona, Ill., Jack (and Linda) Cheline of Kewanee, Ill., Tom Cheline of Rio, Ill., Ray Cheline of East Troy, Wis., and Larry (and Michelle) Cheline of Galva; a daughter, Linda (and Pete) Van De Velde of Galva; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Andy Cheline; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Cheline; a brother, and two sisters.

Betty was a homemaker who had taught school for two years. She had lived in Cambridge, Ill. for 3 years, Henderson, Ill. for 15 years, North Henderson and Rio areas for 20 years, and had lived in Galva since 1967.

Betty graduated from Galesburg High School in 1941. She was of the Lutheran faith. She was a 4-H leader and a national 4-H representative, working mainly with poultry. Betty enjoyed getting dirt under her nails with her flowers and gardening. She also enjoyed baking, her children and grandchildren, and the Chicago Cubs.

Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Friday, December 23, 2011 in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. Rev. Al Beck will officiate. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to GalFEE Education Fund in Galva or Cystic Fibrosis. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
