Erickson, Vincent
Vincent Erickson, age 88, of rural Oneida, Illinois died at 1:24 A.M. on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at Cottage Hospital, Galesburg, Illinois.

He was born on January 14, 1923 in Altona, Illinois, the son of Albert and Carrie (Berg) Erickson. He married Laura Kammerman in 1947 and they celebrated their 64th anniversary on November 16th.

He is survived by his wife, Laura; two daughters, Deloris (and Roger) Brown of Altona, and Doris (and John) Wolford of Abingdon. He also has six grandchildren: Letitia (and Matt) Lewis of Knoxville, Jerod (and Dana) Brown of Galva, Jenelle Brown of Macomb, Phillip (and Cara) Wolford of Galesburg, Daniel (and Cricket) Wolford of Burlington, and Matthew Wolford of Iowa City; and three great granddaughters: Mackenzie Lewis, Makayla Lewis and Marissa Brown.

Vincent was a life long farmer in the Altona/Oneida area. He lived to farm and farmed to live. Vincent was an Air Force World War II veteran and was injured in Africa. He was also a former member of the American Legion, the Lion's Club, and the Oneida Methodist Church. He enjoyed time with family and grandchildren and visiting many friends at the coffee shop and surrounding area.

The Family wishes to thank the staff of St. Mary's and Cottage Hospital for their care and compassion of Vincent for the past 8 weeks A special thanks to the Wataga/Oneida Ambulance Service for their quick response.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, December 31, 2011 at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes in Oneida. Revs. Don Reynolds and David Pyell officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 31, 2011 at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes in Oneida, Illinois. Burial will be in the Oneida Cemetery, Oneida, Illinois. Memorial can be made to the Wataga/Oneida Ambulance Service, the United Church of Oneida, or the Charity of the Donors Choice.
