Whitehall, George L.
George L. Whitehall, 92, of Monmouth, Illinois died at 8:35 P.m. Wed. Dec. 28, 2011 at the Monmouth Nursing Home, Monmouth.

He was born November 20, 1919 in Keithsburg, Illinois the son of Roy and Hazel (McNall) Whitehall. He was raised and educated in Keithsburg, Illinois.

George married Betty Meehan on January 8, 1941 in Burlington, Iowa and she survives.

George was a mechanic and farm worker. He enjoyed his grandchildren and working on cars and was a general handyman.

He attended the Keithsburg Christian Church. He was a member of the Monmouth I.O.O.F. Lodge #61 and the Friendship Rebeka Lodge #22.

Surviving are his wife, Betty Whitehall of Monmouth; four daughters, Janet (Bill) Robertson-Hart of Monmouth, Judy (David) French of Bonner Springs, KS, Joan (Kenny) Unger of Monmouth, Joyce (David) Martin of Logansport, IN; two sons, Ed (Pat) Whitehall of Lehigh Arces, FL and Steve (Sara) Whitehall of Mattoon, IL; 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, 3 brothers, Kenneth Whitehall of Aledo, Curtis Whitehall of Aledo and Tom (Louise) Whitehall of East Moline; 1 sister, Lois Strang of Davenport, along with nieces an nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two grandchildren, Shelley Logsdon and Shawn Jewitt, 2 brothers, Russell Whitehall and Floyd Whitehall and three sisters, Irene Crow, Opal Tee and Wiladeen Holmes.

Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Monday, January 2, 2012 at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Monmouth with Rev. Todd Dalhgren of the Immanuel Baptist Church. Burial will be in Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Monmouth where his family will be present for visitation from 9:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. Memorials may be given to Monmouth Nursing Home.
