Martha Marie Allen, 96, formerly of Henderson, Ill., died at 9:35 p.m. Tuesday, December 6, 2011 in Marigold Health Care Center, Galesburg.
She was born February 19, 1915 in Lone Tree, Iowa, the daughter of Alfred and Hannah Carlson Heimer. She married Robert D. Allen on August 5, 1942 in Kahoka, Mo. He preceded her in death on December 8, 2003.
She is survived by two sons, William "Dale" (and Nellie) Allen of Galesburg and Paul (and Deena) Allen of Henderson, Ill.; two grandchildren, Brian Allen of Henderson and Casey (and Tori) Allen of Poplar Grove, Ill.; two great grandchildren, Delaney and Clarissa Allen; a sister, Ruth Johnson of Galesburg; and a sister-in-law, Esther Allen of Galesburg. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.
Martha was a homemaker. She was a member of the Henderson United Methodist Church and a former member of Henderson Women's Club and Henderson Fireman’s Auxiliary. Martha loved taking care of her garden and flowers.
Funeral will be 11 a.m., Friday, December 9, 2011 in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Rev. Lee Savage will officiate. Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the chapel. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Henderson United Methodist Church. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com. |
