Edwardson, Dana C.
Dana C. "Papa" Edwardson, 82, of Galesburg died at 12:15 am Sunday, December 9, 2012 in OSF St. Francis Medical Center Peoria Ill.

He was born December 29, 1929 in Galesburg the son of Carl E. and Maxine B. Watts Edwardson. He married Patricia J. Kuhl on September 16, 1956 in Galesburg.

He is survived by his children, Debbie Jo Keever of Knoxville, Ill., Gary Dean Edwardson of Gulf Shores, Ala., and Beth Ann (Stephen) Thomas of Monmouth, Ill.; two sisters Claire Altine of Largo, Fla. and Donna Everly of Dayton, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Crissy (Keever) Lynch, Jenny (Nick) Keever-Bryan, Angela Ryner, Robbie Hoots, Gregg Edwardson, Kriston Edwardson, David Edwardson and Amanda (Edwardson) Byrd and eleven great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents.

He served in the US Army from 1951-1954 including the Korea War from 1951-1952. Dana earned two Bronze Stars.

Dana worked for the former CB& Q Railroad, now Burlington Northern Railroad as a round house foreman for 35 years, retiring in 1985. He graduated from Galesburg High School in 1949. He was a member of the Peoria Masonic Lodge and a member of the Shriners. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Dana enjoyed riding his motorcycle. His true joy was spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 pm Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Immediately following will be a Memorial service with Military Rites by the VFW Post #2257. Rev. Norman Mendell will officiate. Memorials may be made to the Galesburg Railroad Museum or to the Shriners Children's Hospital. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com
